#7. CIRCA SURVIVE - Blue Sky Noise ![]() From the moment CIRCA SURVIVE released their first single ‘Get Out’ way back in February, I knew that ‘Blue Sky Noise’ would be one of the best releases of the year - and over six months later, I’m even more in love with this album that I was initially. Anthony Green & Co. have taken their signature sound and fused it with more traditional rock stylings - all blending together perfectly. As per usual, Anthony Green's vocals are top-notch. No surprises there. Album opener ‘Strange Terrain’ shows off some happy guitar work, whilst ‘Glass Arrows’ demonstrates the technically amazing and beautiful guitar riffs that fans are used to, alongside the climax of kids singing "I don’t need excuses, I don’t want apologies..." - and ‘Fever Dreams’ and ‘Spirit Of The Stairwell’ both start off with acoustic guitar, which is a refreshing change of pace from the heavier opening tracks. 'Blue Sky Noise' is one of my biggest surprise loves of the year, and rightfully so. It’s everything you love about Circa Survive... but done better than ever before. Admittedly, it may take fans of Circa’s previous albums a few listens to get used to the shift in pace, but the extra effort is worth it. MUST-LISTEN: 'Get Out', 'Glass Arrows', 'I Felt Free', 'Frozen Creek', 'Imaginary Enemy'. YOU WILL LIKE, IF YOU LIKE: Early Saosin, Thrice, The Sound Of Animals Fighting, Dance Gavin Dance... and cover art good enough to frame. MUST-WATCH: Circa Survive performing 'Get Out' live... ![]() |
