![]() Local mash-up artist DJ SURGE-N's newest musical offering 'Houdini In The Deep', pairs ADELE's 'Rolling In The Deep' with FOSTER THE PEOPLE's 'Houdini'. Of his new track, Asad Naseem a.k.a. DJ Surge-N says: "I've always been interested in experimenting and changing things up with all of my productions. Years ago when I first began doing this, experimentation was strongly based on the pure reason of wanting to hear personal favourites in a completely different way. My experimenting has progressed to the point where this still remains to be a fundamental aspect, but with now a greater platform in which to promote my productions, the aim of being able introduce new bands and musicians to a much larger fanbase is also very appealing. I've always been a huge fan of fusing different styles and genres to break categorical boundaries. Sometimes it may seem as if I'm 'destroying' the integrity of the original tracks, and from the perspective of a fan I can understand this completely. However, it's quite an enjoyable process and so too the prospect of people coming to appreciate and acknowledge the significance of a genre or style they originally would not prefer. Adele has been on the agenda for quite some time, but the remix only recently came to fruition with the release of the Foster The People's debut album, 'Torches'. Being a huge follower of this band for quite some time, I couldn't resist having a go at one of my favourite tracks from their LP, 'Houdini'. 'Rolling In The Deep' was chosen as a result of its fantastic complement to the track and also due to the many requests I got from fans to use a recent Adele track. I found that combining them both just provided a completely different feel as a whole and despite the messages of both tracks being markedly different, it was great to hear how they both complemented so well, musically. Adele being very soulful, and Foster The People being more alternative, I hope that fans of either of these musicians and/or styles enjoy this new Ensurgency production. Huge thanks to CDM for providing a platform of support for this remix. You guys do an awesome job of your support for music all over! - Asad Naseem | DJ Surge-N" Listen to 'Houdini In The Deep' below... or click HERE to listen via SoundCloud. |
