The Arctic Monkeys frontman ALEX TURNER has written the score for an upcoming British film entitled 'Submarine' - due to be released in 2011. The soundtrack will be mixed by Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford.

'Submarine' is based on the 2008 debut novel of the same name by Joe Dunthorne, and directed by RICHARD AYOYADE - you may recognise him as Maurice Moss from 'The IT Crowd' and Saboo in 'The Mighty Boosh' - who directed the Arctic Monkeys' music videos for 'Fluorescent Adolescent', 'Crying Lightning' and 'Cornerstone'. Ayoade also worked with the band on their live DVD 'At The Apollo', which is when he asked Turner to write the soundtrack for 'Submarine'.

Ayoyade has also directed music videos for The Last Shadow Puppets ('Standing Next to Me' and 'My Mistakes Were Made For You'), Vampire Weekend ('Oxford Comma' and 'Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa'), Kasabian ('Vlad the Impaler'), the Yeah Yeah Yeahs ('Heads Will Roll'), and Super Furry Animals ('Run Away').

Earlier this year, Turner revealed that there are currently no plans for him to record another The Last Shadow Puppets album. Turner said that: "I wouldn't have thought so, no. Miles [Kane] has just kind of completed his new record, so that will sort of tie him up for a bit I think. Yeah, I don't think so.”
