![]() This is weirdly awesome! THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS covered TAYLOR SWIFT's single 'Mean' at the 2011 CMT's Artists Of The Year TV special - ending by breaking into a surprise mash-up of their own single 'Gives You Hell' with Taylor singing along and dancing in her seat! In an interview with MTV, frontman TYSON RITTER said of their cover: "It's special. We have a special performance for Miss Taylor Swift. We're performing her song 'Mean.' We definitely sort of took a country song and made it not anything like what it was. It's going to be a tribute to the fact that any song can stand in any genre, and we definitely brought it into ours. We're like the Osmonds, except we're the side that's a little more rock and roll." And of his thoughts on Taylor: "She's the real deal. She doesn't take sh-- from anybody while she does it. And strong women, that's something to be feared and adored, right?" Earlier this year, Swift covered The All-American Rejects' debut single 'Swing, Swing' at the Tulsa, Oklahoma date of her North American 'Speak Now Tour' - which you can watch HERE.
