![]() The Australian music scene has never done more for a July in New Zealand, than it has done this year. It was only two days ago that we announced - HERE - that Passion Pit would be performing one New Zealand show as a sideshow to their appearance at Splendour In The Grass, and today, we are very excited, happy... and magically delighted, to say that FLORENCE + THE MACHINE is also coming back. Winter will never have been so musically (and, as many of my male friends suggest, physically...) hot as July 29th will be, at the Trusts Stadium in Auckland. Unlike Passion Pit, this show is all ages, which means there are absolutely no excuses not to be there. Florence + The Machine rose to fame last year with the release of their debut album 'Lungs', which spent 28 consecutive weeks on the UK music charts, and also saw Florence nominated for a bevy of awards, many of which she won - including the prestigious Mercury Prize, Album Of The Year at the 2010 Brit Music Awards, and also taking out album of the year on our Best Of - HERE. The critical acclaim and many accolades were proven to be worth more than we could have ever imagined, when Florence stunned the eager and sold-out Laneway Festival audience in February this year, blowing all expectations out of the water with her powerful voice, cute drunken, and a backing band worthy of great things. With Florence currently in the process of writing her sophomore album, we can expect to hear all our favourites off of 'Lungs', as well as some new material which is sure to impress. We don't know about you, but we can't think of anything we would rather do more on a cold Thursday evening in July, than bask in the musical glow that is... Florence + The Machine... and special guests - THE DRUMS! Tickets go on sale on the 21st of May through Ticket Direct and a new, two-disc enhanced video tour edition of 'Lungs' is in-stores from Monday, May 24th. UPDATE: GA and Reserve tickets will be $99.90 each and there are a few very limited V.I.P. tickets for $119.90. There will also be a NZ support band TBA - so three bands in total playing on the night. Read our February 2010 interview with Florence + The Machine HERE.
