Scary Kids Scaring Kids

Never say never, but I'm pretty sure that September 2nd-4th will be your first and last chance to see scene legends SCARY KIDS SCARING KIDS play live in New Zealand. Yes, the band announced their demise earlier this year...  but lucky for us, they decided to go out with a bang and reward the fans who may not have had the chance to see them before, with a final Aus/NZ tour dubbed 'The Final Nightmare' - with support from MOD SUN (US), THE MISSION IN MOTION (AUS), and Broken Avenue (NZ). And non-Aucklanders, you're in luck! SKSK are bringing their brand of post-hardcore to three cities - playing Bodega (R18) in Wellington on September 2nd, The Bedford (AA) September 3rd in Christchurch, and Zeal (AA) in Auckland September 4th.

Scary Kids Scaring Kids formed in 2002, releasing their debut album 'The City Sleeps In Flames' in 2005, followed up by their self-titled release in 2007. Cementing their place in the increasingly popular genre of post-hardcore, SKSK's mix of metal, punk and hardcore, meant their fanbase grew solidly and the band seemed to enjoy their time at the top... that is until, November 2009 where the band announced they were calling it quits. Playing their final U.S. tour from January to March this year, nobody expected the band would unite once more, to entertain us kids in the lands down under in what will possibly be their last shows as a group ever.

Mod Sun - which stands for 'Movement On Dreams. Stand Under No-one' - is the hip-hop project of drummer Derek Smith, who has been filling in for SKSK's final tour as well as previously being the drummer for Four Letter Lie. Smith is no Eminem, but his hip-hop stylings have seen him collaborate with the likes of P.O.S. and Pat Brown (Sing It Loud), and open for the entirety of SKSK's final U.S. tour. Releasing his first album 'I'll Buy Myself' in early 2009, Smith wrote, produced, and recorded everything by himself, doing what he wants, how he wants. While many laughed at his decision to leave Four Letter Lie to pursue a career in rap, really Smith should be admired. He's following his passion and chasing after his dream - and there's nothing more respectable than that. It's good vibes, partying music... and should be entertaining to witness live.

The Mission In Motion are taking Australia by storm, and there's no surprises why. One listen to any of their tracks, and the energy and catchy hooks are endlessly entertaining, and their live performance is set to be just as promising. Their debut album 'Somewhere Safe' is set to be released in Australia on July 30th, and if the tracks on their Myspace such as 'New Skin' are anything to go by, the album will be the perfect addition to any Summer soundtrack.

Don't miss your opportunity to be part of 'The Final Nightmare' - hardcore, hip-hop, power-pop-punk... really, there is something for everyone and minds should be sufficiently blown. Tickets are on sale now from Moshtix, Real Groovy and Under The Radar for $40.
