![]() UPDATE: FIRST AND SECOND SHOWS ARE SOLD OUT! A third show has been added for Friday, January 14th at The Powerstation. Tickets are available in pre-sale at powerstation.net.nz from October 11th. Get our your 2011 calenders, people! It’s time to mark in a very special date. January 12th 2011 will see Brooklyn-based indie-band THE NATIONAL return to our shores for one show only at Auckland’s Powerstation, with tickets going on sale September 30th. Despite the rumours that The National would be performing at next year's Big Day Out, we are way more excited to get the opportunity to witness a full headlining set from the band, who released the fifth album ‘High Violet’ earlier this year to overwhelmingly positive reviews. And if their talent isn’t enough to get your musical tongues wagging... do we have to remind you of their stunning and hugely popular New Zealand performance way back in 2007? Or maybe the fact that the band were huge advocates of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, having their song featured in many high profile Obama events? Or maybe, just the fact that UK music bible NME stated that they are "one of the most important bands of their generation" will be enough to convince you of their talent? Whatever your motivation, the result should be the same. The National have been stunning audiences worldwide with their mesmerizing and powerful brand of rock, and tickets to their NZ show are expected to sell fast. THE NATIONAL
