The Get Up Kids

Here’s 'Something To Write Home About' - the legendary THE GET UP KIDS are coming to New Zealand! After stunning audiences at Soundwave Festival in Australia last year, The Get Up Kids have announced their return to the South Pacific, this time including one show only in New Zealand on August 11th at The Powerstation. Sadly for all you younger fans, this show is R18.

Formed in 1995, and going on hiatus from 2005 until 2008, The Get Up Kids have been named as inspirations to many bands in the pop-punk/rock scene including blink-182, Hellogoodbye, Fall Out Boy, and The Early November. Their 1999 album ‘Something To Write Home About’ has been labelled as the "greatest pop-punk album ever written" by Sputnik Music and was enough to take the band out of their hiatus to celebrate its 10th year anniversary in 2009 with a U.S. tour.

Thankfully for us, the band didn’t seem to stop once their anniversary tour was over, releasing an EP ‘Simple Science’ before their 2010 full-length, ‘There Are Rules’. If their performance from last year at Soundwave was anything to go by, fans are in for a treat and this show is a must-see. Tickets go on sale Tuesday April 26th from Real Groovy and Ticketmaster.
