 Our absolute favourite kind of announcements are those of the tour-kind. Even better, is the kind of announcement that involves a majorly beloved band finally deciding to come to New Zealand for the very first time ever in their eighteen-year career. Music fans, get excited! COUP DE MAIN are thrilled to announce that the legendary indie-rock band MODEST MOUSE will be playing a special one-off show this August, at Auckland’s Powerstation. Tickets are sure to disappear swiftly - and trust us, this is one show you definitely don’t want to miss out on. Since 1993, Modest Mouse have slowly but surely worked their way up to the top, cementing their place firmly in the hearts of many a music fan and critic, with albums such as 2004’s ‘Good News For People Who Love Bad News’ and 2007’s ‘We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank’ launching the band from cult-classics to fully fledged stars, with the latter album hitting Number One on the U.S. Billboard charts. In 2009 the band teased fans with an eight-song EP, ‘No One’s First and You’re Next’, which featured B-sides from their last two albums and some ‘re-polished’ unreleased tracks. However, since then the band have remained fairly quiet... that is, until now! Less than a month ago, hip-hop artist Big Boi (from Outkast) announced that he had been in the studio with the band working on some tracks for their new record, and with the announcement of this New Zealand (and Australian) tour run we can only hope that we get a taste of these new songs when they hit the stage.
