Ignite seminars launch this Saturday.

Ignite Seminars are hosting their first ever events this coming Saturday 9th April - seminars which will offer insight into the world of the New Zealand music industry.

There are two seminars on offer for the day - the first based around event management, and the second based around marketing and publicity - and each of them feature a line-up made up of many music industry colleagues. It's an event not to be missed.

Aspiring event managers, musicians, and artist managers are invited to hear from top music industry professionals at the IGNITE Seminars, held this Saturday 9 April at the Aotea Centre.  IGNITE Seminars will offer insights and tricks of the trade for organising and marketing shows and tours. IGNITE Seminars are free to attend and open to all, with the Event Management session in the morning followed by Marketing and Publicity in the afternoon.

IGNITE is very proud to host some of New Zealand's top promoters in the Event Management seminar covering venues, budgets, ticketing, sponsorship and much more. The session will feature Etienne Marais (ACL, Northern Bass etc), Katie and Lucy Macrae (Chicks that Scream and Mystery Girl), David Benge (Drunken Piano Touring) and will be facilitated by Kingsley Melhuish, the Programme Leader in Diploma in Music and Event Management at MAINZ.

NZ Herald Entertainment Writer Lydia Jenkin will facilitate the Marketing and Publicity seminar held in the afternoon, joined by publicists Lisa Paris (The Label), Josie Campbell (Great Things) and Janine Russell (Noise PR).

The seminars are free and open to all, thanks to support from Auckland Live, MAINZ, NZ Music Commission and the  Ministry of Youth Development.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Katie & Lucy Macrae are sisters who have run both Chicks That Scream and Mystery Girl touring shows from the likes of Dirty Projectors, Fleet Foxes, Boy & Bear, The Paper Kites, Passenger to Bad Religion, NOFX, Bouncing Souls and the No Sleep Til festival and heavily involved in many aspects of the music industry.

David Benge has worked in music for close to 20 years with experience in record label, tour and artist management. In 2013, David started up Drunken Piano with a couple of friends specialising in artist management, PR and live touring, looking after acts such as Courtney Barnett, Father John Misty, Death Cab For Cutie, amongst a slew of others. David also looks after marketing & business development at VICE New Zealand.

Lisa Paris After a tenure at music retail and an indie record label, Lisa started music specialist PR company, The Label, 10 years ago. Developing PR and marketing plans for indie music labels; 4AD, Rough Trade, Matador, XL. Now as a team of three people, The Label runs PR for the WOMAD festival, alongside added label partners Sub Pop, Secretly Canadian, Jagjaguwar and Inertia. Grimes, Bjork, The National, Adele, Unknown Mortal Orchestra..

Josie Campbell works across the whole spectrum of entertainment with her new PR business Great Things. Josie handles publicity for Laneway Festival, upcoming shows and tours such as Twenty One Pilots, Tinashe, Danny Brown, Villainy, Montecristo Comedy at NZ International Comedy Festival and also works as the publicist for the NZ Opera. 

Noise PR founder Janine (J9) Russell has nearly 20 years experience in the music industry and her boutique PR consultancy and has worked with artists and tours such as Sol3 Mio, Diaz Grimm, Auckland City Limits, Disney On Ice, Ciaran McMeeken, Brooke Fraser and The Phoenix Foundation.
