Call me... Old Fashioned
When did the tables turn upside down, wrong way round, in regards to gentleman's etiquette?
This is a subject that has been infiltrating my mind lately. Weighing up the expectations or... lack of.... when it comes to the etiquette of a gentleman. I stand strong for what I want.... and I want to be swept off my feet. Is that too much to ask?
DON'T tell me it's not possible, because people have done it before.. movies alone would be enough of a reference! It's right in front of our face to impersonate.
"I kind of like it when the guy has the upper hand. I have so many upper hands in my life... If you're a strong female, it can get old. You get to the point where you don't want to wear the pants. I just want to wear a really nice dress." - Katy Perry
We have subliminally learnt general etiquette our whole life, why is it not a respected quality anymore? How did this stunning culture decease? Why can't a girl expect a guy to woo her...
WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOOSE?
All of this new technology intrudes on classic ways to do things. Think about it... In the 20th century you would call a girl, make an arrangement to meet and you would be there, ON TIME, without hesitation, no traffic excuses, no lame late text message. Compare that to today... In the history of dating, obviously things have changed. For example, courtship used to be mainstream, along with the morals and values that coincide with the idea of courting.
Suggestions...
#1 Dress to impress... You may just make or break the night with your outfit. This is not the time to dress down! Wear something that you are comfortable in of course, but you can also make a statement about who you are through your wardrobe choice, so choose wisely.
#2 Be prepared and be on time! Your going to freak out and stress yourself out if you are late... and if you aren't then STRESS! Being late is definitely not a good way to start off the night... and if you are running more than a few minutes late, do call your date and also let her know your ETA (estimated time of arrival).
#3 Not all women are feminists... Be the dominant one!
#4 A Date means ... PUT THE PHONE AWAY. Don't check your phone, answer calls or text if you are on a date. The person you are with doesn't want you to interrupt the date with a phone call. Just put it away for like an hour or two. How hard is that?
#5 Do not... whatever you do... DO NOT talk about prior relationships... It's just not the time or place. This is a MAJOR faux pas.
#6 Sweat the small stuff. Over are the days of the girls getting the door themselves. Back to basics Men, GET THAT CAR DOOR.
......Is anybody on my side? Or is this just meeeeeeeeeeee
