A Camila Cabello album appreciation post.

A Camila Cabello album appreciation post.

To celebrate the fact that Camila Cabello’s debut album is now out in the world, we’ve compiled a list of reasons why it’s a very exciting time in the world.

Here’s some official info on the album:

“Multiplatinum global superstar Camila Cabello releases her self-titled full-length debut, CAMILA via SYCO, Epic Records and Sony Music Entertainment New Zealand today, January 12th, 2018. The album features the international mega-hit ‘Havana’ feat. Young Thug, which has reached Double Platinum status here in NZ, as well as her most recent single ‘Never Be The Same’.

‘Havana’ stands out as the biggest smash of her career to date. It recently vaulted to #1 on the iTunes Overall Top Songs Chart, #2 on the Spotify Top Global Chart, and #3 on the Spotify Top U.S. Chart as she became the 4th most streamed artist in the world on Spotify. Total Spotify streams have surpassed 545 million, while the music video is quickly closing in on 430 million YouTube/VEVO views. Recently, it climbed to the #1 spot on the Pop Radio Airplay chart in the US where it has held that spot for seven consecutive weeks, seeing ‘Havana’ log the longest run at the top of the Pop songs chart for a lead female in FIVE years since Taylor Swift’s ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’.”

And here are five things we currently appreciate about Camila…

#1. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Cabello talked about the initial album plans (which was originally called ‘The Hurting, the Healing, the Loving’), saying, "At first I thought it was gonna be, like, a sad-song album. Then the more I got into the year, it just was better. I felt way happier. I feel that it has a good balance of the emo and the happy."

#2. The album features her latest single ‘Never Be The Same’, one of our favourite songs of last year - which she performs live even better, and with a guitar. Watch her perform the song at last year’s B96 Summer Bash…

#3. ‘Havana’ has become a global sensation - reaching number one in the U.K. and Australia, and peaking at number two in the U.S. Watch her perform the song on Jimmy Fallon below…

#4. Barack Obama listed ‘Havana’ as one of his favourite songs of 2017 in a list he published via Facebook - with the song listed second on the list!

#5. ‘Camila’ is jam-packed with amazing co-writes - from Noonie Bao’s work on ‘Never Be The Same’ (who’s also written with Carly Jae Jepsen, Charli XCX, and more), to ‘Into It’ which is co-written with Ryan Tedder and Justin Tranter.
