A Dr. Martens Originals appreciation post.

To celebrate the birthday month of one of our favourite shoes, Dr. Martens, we’ve decided to compile an appreciation post devoted to the classic shoe.

The original 1460 8-eye boot was launched on April 1st back in 1960, and since then has become a staple in the fashion and music scenes alike.

As part of their birthday celebrations, three further silhouettes have been re-introduced from the brand’s archive - including the Brogue, which was first made in the mid-60s, and the Chelsea Boot, the style which originated back in 1851 when it was patented by Queen Victoria’s shoemaker J. Sparkes Hall.

Check out some of our favourite Dr. Marten styles and moments below…

A number of musicians have worn Dr. Martens during Coup De Main photoshoots - with Grimes wearing a pair of Dr. Martens (the Magdalena Ankle Zip Boots) in her Coup De Main covershoot (featuring an adorable dog too):

Both Dave and Drew from Glass Animals wore Dr. Martens in our brand-new covershoot with them - check out some of the photos:

Halsey has been fond of Dr. Martens over the years - wearing them back in her blue-haired days, and even rocking a 14-eye pair donned with roses more recently:

Ellie Goulding is another artist who has a love of Dr. Martens - and they’re often her shoe of choice when performing live, particularly the classic black 1460 8-eye boot.
