5 reasons to see Julia Jacklin's solo NZ shows in July.
Julia Jacklin is set to tour New Zealand next month with solo shows after a long-awaited live show drought of the last year or so - kicking off the tour in Wellington at San Fran on July 20th, before heading down to Christchurch, then up to Auckland for two final shows.
Ahead of the upcoming shows, we've put together five reasons why we think you should run, not walk, to see her live:
#1. Back in 2019, we interviewed Julia around her sophomore album 'Crushing' where she talked about playing songs live and interpolating older music into a newer setlist: "I don’t know, I haven’t started touring this record yet, so it’s my first experience of having two records and knowing how to mash them in a show... When I was younger, you’d go to a show and someone’s got like, four albums, and I never thought about the difficulties about not only mixing the emotions of all the different songs, but also the styles because your style changes so much. You also want to create a show that's pleasing to everyone, but also not just this weird collage, you know? I’ve made this new record and I want to play it, but I also know that people wanna hear the first record, and so, I have no idea what I’m going to do to be honest."
#2. Julia has also been joined on stage by the likes of Lana Del Rey where they duetted 'Don't Know How to Keep Loving You' at the Bellco Theatre in Denver, Colorado.
#3. While Julia's own songs sound so great live you don't think anything can beat them, just wait 'til you hear her cover Avril Lavigne's 'I'm With You'.
#4. These live performances of Julia performing 'Comfort', as well as 'Don't Know How To Keep Loving You', 'Head Alone', 'Turn Me Down' and 'Pressure To Party' give you a taste of what you could see in July.
