A couple of weeks ago at the 2016 Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards, hair-stylist Danny Pato was awarded the honour of New Zealand Hairdresser Of The Year. He makes up one half of D&M Hair Design, located on Ponsonby’s Redmond Street.
We spoke to Danny about his favourite styles and products, as well as why he loves being a hairdresser so much...
COUP DE MAIN: What inspired you initially to become a hairdresser, and how did you start off in the industry?
Thanks to Kickstarter, there will soon be a Taylor Swift themed detective novella released into the world.
The book is titled ‘Taylor Swift: Girl Detective and The Secrets of The Starbucks’, and is going to be published in a ‘Nancy Drew’-esque style.

Some of my favourite films and television shows have an indescribable plot - and I don’t mean that they’re so incomprehensible in depth, I mean that there’s not a lot that really happens (‘Seinfeld’, I’m looking at you). ‘Everybody Wants Some!!’ is incredibly enjoyable for that very same reason, however at the same time it’s a film that will leave you with a veritable array of emotions.
Alexandra Savior has released a music video for her debut single, 'Shades’ - written and directed by her own very talented self - in which a suited-up dude called Jason exasperatedly quests in a deserted desert.

In the lead-up to the release of the upcoming film-adaptation of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them', J.K. Rowling has now published a new story on Pottermore, in which she reveals how the North American wizarding school, Ilvermorny, was originally founded.
There’s also a new 'Ilvermorny Sorting Ceremony' available on Pottermore now. You could be sorted into any of the below houses:
Horned Serpent – a ‘great horned river serpent with a jewel set into its forehead’.
Pukwudgie – ‘a short, grey-faced, large-eared creature’.
In support of the release of her sophomore album, ‘Beautiful Lies’, Birdy took to ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ to perform ‘Keeping Your Head Up’.

Following the great success of Fujifilm’s smartphone printer, the Instax Share, they’ve now announced a new model which will be able to print photos in just 10 seconds, and has a "high resolution with print pixels of 800 x 600 dots and 320 dpi to show detailed gradations and the facial expressions of a full-length portrait, character or objects clearly".
The new SP-2 will also be available in two different colours, silver and gold, and feature several new filters and templates.
