New Zealander Merk’s debut album ‘Swordfish’ of last year is an underrated gem - on album highlight ‘Treehouse Club’ he sings, “Every day I’m getting older / Waiting for something better,” a relatable sentiment of growing up, and a lingering dissatisfaction.
Real name Mark, he’s a Brian Wilson enthusiast, a self-managed multi-instrumentalist (who played nearly every instrument you hear on the album), and one to definitely watch out for in 2017.
With confirmations for many a 2017 music festival line-up already announced, anticipation is high for Lorde Album #2, and it seems that maybe a single might be fast approaching as it appears that she spent last night in Los Angeles at a very long overnight shoot... which possibly could have been for a music video?

Superfood are clearly taking the old adage 'new year; new you' rather seriously, as they’ve returned as a two-piece (now just Dom Ganderton and Ryan Malcolm) armed to the teeth with a brand new song 'Double Dutch' - which sounds like nothing you’ve ever heard from them before, or expected to ever hear from them, but in the absolute very best way.

For those that have been hoping to hear new music from The 1975 sooner rather than later, comes a rather promising rumour in the form of screenshots circulating of a new song called 'By Your Side' allegedly registered to the UMG database.
The band’s manager Jamie Oborne was questioned about the song via Twitter, and did neither confirm nor deny:
Carly Rae Jepsen, Lil Yachty, and Mike Will Made-It have teamed up together to collaborate on a new rendition of Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock’s classic song, 'It Takes Two'.
