Interview: Superfood on upcoming second album 'Bambino'.

It's fair to say Superfood are a very different band now from the group to which we were first introduced back in 2013. The most significant among the changes they have undergone is the shedding of half the band. Drummer Carl Griffin and bassist Emily Baker have departed, leaving just the two lead writers and performers, Dom Ganderton and Ryan Malcolm. They've also left their old label and signed, having completed work on sophomore album 'Bambino', with Dirty Hit Records, home of The 1975, The Japanese House and a whole roster of exciting, young, British talent.

Listen: Astrid S’s new song, 'Think Before I Talk'.

Norwegian songstress Astrid S has swiftly followed up her ‘Party’s Over’ EP with a new song, ‘Before I Talk’.

About the song, she says: “It’s a song about saying things you don’t mean because you are hurt, frustrated or maybe angry. I hope that this is a song a lot of people can relate to, and that next time you are about to say something in the heat of an argument, you hopefully remember to think before you say something hurtful.”

She talks a mile a minute about her music, her fans, and horror movies. She gushes about her brother’s songwriting talents. She expresses real excitement about her recently announced shows in Australia and New Zealand, including a night at The Tuning Fork in Auckland.

It’s a pretty big feat, the task of transforming a globally beloved Roald Dahl story into a musical show - and one that ‘Matilda: The Musical’ has managed to do extremely well. The 1988 children’s book 'Matilda' has been treasured in many a generation for years now, and has continued to be so through ‘Matilda: The Musical’, which has taken residency up at Auckland’s Civic Theatre, after its official opening night last night.

Review: Kehlani - Logan Campbell Centre, August 2017.

“Y’all sound fucking crazy,” Kehlani gleefully cheered last night, only two songs into her nearly sold-out show at Auckland’s Logan Campbell Centre, and she was certainly right. Having only played ‘Keep On’ and ‘Distraction’ to the intense and fervent crowd, she decided early on that we were “the most turnt crowd I’ve ever played to” - and the undeniable energy from the moment she stepped foot on-stage was never-failing throughout the rest of her 90-minute set.
