Interview: Allie X on #Xpression and 'CollXtion II'.

Earlier this year in London, Coup De Main caught up with Allie X to discuss 'CollXtion II', #Xpression, and the importance of women supporting other women in the music industry...

"...I refuse to stop evolving no matter how painful it is..."

CDM: How long have you been here for?
ALLIE X: In London? I arrived last Thursday. It’s long enough that I should’ve adjusted to the time difference, but I still haven’t. <laughs>

Interview: Elohim on her debut self-titled EP.

Elohim is an entity of great mystery. Based in Los Angeles, she obscures her voice and sometimes her face to protect herself and her identity, using an English-accented automated voice to read her answers in interviews, and a tiger-face mask in many photoshoots. If this sounds somewhat gimmicky, the answer as to why Elohim employs these measures comes in her lyrics.

Meet/Greet Interview: Sachi.

New Zealand duo Sachi are ones to keep an eye on, making catchy dance music that will be stuck in your head for weeks. Made up of Nick and Will, the pair have opened for the likes of Rudimental, and played a slot at Rhythm and Vines this past Summer.

‘Hold On’ was even leaked by none other than Diplo during his BBC Radio 1 show ‘Diplo and Friends’, and Zane Lowe premiered 'South Central (Feat. DUCKWRTH)' ahead of the release of their ‘Lunch With Bianca’ EP - which is out now.

Check out Sachi’s answers to our Meet/Greet interview below…

Interview: MUNA on their 'Loudspeaker' EP.

MUNA classifies themselves as ‘dark pop’, but for a band whose tunes are languished and bruised, they emit pure light on stage and in person. Songs like ‘Loudspeaker’ and ‘Winterbreak’ started exploding on blogs in early 2016, after a more muted EP release last year. This time around, MUNA’s haunting yet touching lyrics and carefully choreographed aesthetics are winning them both a host of Internet fangirls and approval from mainstream critics.

Interview: Frances on songwriting, Greg Kurstin, and new music.

Sophie Frances Cooke is better known in 2016 as Frances - the girl with the voice like no other. Hailing from the camp of Sam Smith and Disclosure (as well as their praise), her music is heartfelt and unique.

She was part of the BBC Sound Of 2016, and was also shortlisted for the 2016 BRIT Awards Critics' Choice Award - high accolades for a relatively new musician.

Frances recently came to New Zealand for a very brief visit, during which we photographed her in Jetset Bohemian, and spoke to her about her songwriting process, and what she learned from Sam Smith…

Meet/Greet Interview: Liam Sharma of Modern Manners.

Our first ever ‘Meet/Greet’ interview is with Liam Sharma - the brains behind Auckland-based gender neutral clothing brand, Modern Manners.

Originally starting out online and at the Wanderer Collective in Christchurch, Modern Manners used to have  a little space in St. Kevin’s Arcade on Karangahape Road, where they showcased not only their simple streetwear, but also art from locals such as Samuel Liu and Tabitha Van Der Westhuizen. Liam has since moved to New York City to continue the pursuit of the Modern Manners brand!
